Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield was scratched Friday from his scheduled start against the Baltimore Orioles with a sore lower back.
Wakefield, tied for the major league lead in wins with a 16-10 record, was replaced by Julian Tavarez (7-9).

Chamberlain suspended for two games
New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the top of the ninth inning of Thursday’s game against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium, according to a release posted on the team’s Web site.
